Where Does Cashmere come from?

The journey of Cashmere wool is as fascinating as its texture. Predominantly sourced from the remote regions of the Himalayas, Mongolia, and China, these resilient goats thrive in harsh climates, developing a fine undercoat to protect against the cold. Harvesting this wool is an art in itself, ensuring the wellbeing of the goats while collecting the finest fibers. This meticulous process contributes to the rarity and value of Cashmere, making it a sought-after material globally.

Although used interchangeably and the distinction is often nuanced and can vary based on individual preferences and industry interpretations. Nitpicking the finer details, Cashmere is a broader category, Pashmina represents a finer and more exclusive subset within that category. Both Cashmere and Pashmina are associated with luxury, softness, and warmth, making them highly prized materials in the textile industry.

Where does our Cashmere Comes from?

Our Cashmere is from reputed companies in China like Novetex and few others. We are also testing the cashmere yarn from supplier that could provide traceability in the yarn.

As of now, we do not have blends in Cashmere. We have 100% Cashmere of few thickness. As we are a handmade knitwear company, very thin yarn do not really suits for knitting as it is SUPER time consuming and sometimes difficult to knit for our hand knitters.

Why use cashmere?

Cashmere, the jewel in the crown of yarns, stands out for its unparalleled softness, warmth, and durability. Unlike conventional wools, Cashmere offers a unique blend of lightweight comfort and exquisite texture, making it a favored choice for high-end knitwear.

Lightweight Comfort: Offering a level of warmth superior to other wools while being incredibly light.

Unparalleled Softness: Average Cashmere is 14-16 micron. Lower the micron, softest the yarn is.

Investment in Luxury: Owning a 100% Cashmere apparel is an investment for lifelong value.

Why Choose Cashmere YARN In Handmade Knitwear and Crochet Manufacturing?

Hand knitting with cashmere is a truly delightful experience. While the feel during the knitting process may not differ significantly, the transformation becomes apparent after washing with fabric softener. The resulting product takes on a completely different appearance—becoming super soft and slippery with the application of softener.

Engaging in hand knitting with cashmere, however, is also an expensive undertaking. Cashmere is significantly more expensive than wool, and the traditional hand knitting process can be time-consuming. Thus, it’s a luxurious endeavor both in terms of time and cost.

Caring guidelines for Cashmere yarn apparels

Handmade cashmere knitwear, crafted from 100% certified 1/2.6 Nm yarn, demands extra care to preserve its exceptional softness and luxurious feel. Though cashmere is prized for its warmth and lightness, its fine fibers are delicate and can be vulnerable to stretching, pilling, and felting if not handled gently. Proper care—such as hand washing, drying flat, and storing with care—is essential to maintain the elegance and longevity of each handcrafted piece

  • Machine wash 30 degrees wool or gentle cycle: Wash the garment in a washing machine at 30°C using the wool or gentle cycle to protect the fabric and maintain its quality.
  • Can be hand washed in tepid water: Cashmere can be hand washed in tepid water to gently clean the fibers without causing shrinkage or damage.
  • Can be ironed on low heat: Cashmere can be ironed on low heat to smooth out wrinkles without damaging the delicate fibers.
  • Use a cashmere comb or fabric shaver to gently remove pills: Use a cashmere comb or fabric shaver to carefully remove pills, keeping the fabric smooth and looking new.
  • Dry flat: Cashmere should be dried flat to maintain its shape and prevent stretching or distortion.
  • Use cedar balls or lavender sachets to deter moths: Use cedar balls or lavender sachets to naturally repel moths and protect your cashmere garments.

  • Our hand knitted garments are hand knitted each panel to exact shape without waste. These panels are then meticulously linked and finished by hand to form seamless garments.

  • Carded cashmere is spun into fine yarn using worsted or woolen methods depending on fiber length. A 1/2.6 Nm count indicates very fine, high-quality yarn—twice the length of fiber per gram than typical thicker yarn—ideal for lightweight luxury garments. See pictures above for our Cashmere.

  • Compared to wool or alpaca, cashmere is finer, softer, and lighter, offering superior insulation without bulk, but it is generally more delicate and requires gentle care.

  • Cashmere is a fine wool from Cashmere goats primarily found in Mongolia, China, Iran, and Afghanistan, while Pashmina is a specific type of Cashmere from the Changthangi or Pashmina goat native to the Himalayan regions of India, Nepal, and Pakistan.
